IDAT101: Artefact project

19th March 2007

As originally posted I decided to research into the I-BEAM project and a typeface produced. After settling on the idea of researching one of the typefaces that was designed in the dyslexic eddition of the project I then sat down and tried to decide which typeface I was going to choose.

The typeface that most caught my eye was called Alphaform, which was originally the idea…

IDAT101: Mapping project

19th March 2007

For our IDAT101 Mapping project my group and I decided to explore the mapping of a sporting event. After further research we decided we would map the possession and distribution of the ball and players during a football game.

This would work by splitting the football pitch into a number of segments. Each segment would then vary in tone of colour depending on the amount of action and number of players in that area. The more players there were in the more action or possession that segment…

Going offline

15th March 2007

This site is going offline for the next day or so while I implement the new design and add all the new sections. I’m hoping to have it done by the end of the day, but there’s a few new sections that need building which may make things a little bit tricky and take some extra time to nail.

See you all on the other side!

IDAT101: Artefact project

14th March 2007

After doing plenty of hunting around and speaking with Mike about my project a couple of times I decided that for my artefact project I was going to recreate a typeface that was produced for the IDAT I-BEAM project. I-BEAM is a national project to see what happens when you ask different creative groups to design their own typeface. Over the past three years IBeam has published 3 editions of fonts by Architects, Dancers and Dyslexics.

I’ve decided I let you all have a sneak peak at the next version of the site that I’m working on. As I said before it’s difficult finding time to work on it in between client work but hopefully it’s not too far away from taking over the site. I’m completely restructuring the site from the ground up so thing are going to be quite drastically different.

I want the next version of my site to focus more on my work rather then the blog. I am also toying with the…

None stop

20th February 2007

The site has been left some what deserted in the last week or so due to me being just too busy to even think about it. Both university work and freelance work is picking up and I have just haven’t been able to find the time to write about anything.

A number of new projects are starting to pop up for my course and most of these projects are quite big ones. Audio, ASP programming, database cinema gubbins and various other assignments I have mentioned on here are all in the burner.…

IDAT101: Artefact project

30th January 2007

We’ve been handed a new assignment for IDAT101, which is to research an “artefact” and its maker/manufacturer and create it ourselves. We are required to immerse ourselves in research surrounding the artefact and its maker and experience the same/similar investigative process undertaken by the artefacts manufacturer.

For my project I have decided to research an historical or important typeface. I plan to research typography and it’s history in detail and then choose…
