Site update

18th October 2006

I’ve been tweaking bits and bobs on the site, getting it a little something like what I have in mind. What you are looking at now is probably 70% the finished product.

Things in the pipeline include -

  • New styling of page footer
  • Archives
  • Small tweaks to the design of posts
  • Styling of comment pages (half done)
  • New portfolio section to display work and projects

No biggies…

The HTML Times

17th October 2006

A little late posting this one on the site, but I’ll get over it. Last week we had to code a website that adopted a newpaper-like format. I knocked this together purely with just CSS and without any tables. The design has only been tested on Mac OS X browsers, so there is a chance it’s broken in Internet Explorer on windows. I have attached a screenshot of what it should look like at the end of this post. If you can, open it in a decent browser such as Firefox or Safari.

Friday the 13th

14th October 2006

It’s not every day you get a Friday the 13th in October of all months. As a result of this, extra caution was taken going out last night to party. Luckily in a dramatic turn of events the night turned out to be one of the best I have had in my first month here at university. IDAT103 Assignment 1: Weather page

12th October 2006

Today we were handed out a new assignment for IDAT103. We have to construct a splash screen page for a weather website in photoshop. We have a number of design constraints which we have to keep to for the assignment.

The design must:

  • be no larger then 800x600 pixels
  • be as visually stunning as possible
  • be no larger then 200k in file size

It’s a 2 week deadline which is pretty reasonable, so expect to see perhaps some previews of what…

An old portfolio design concept

12th October 2006

I stumbled upon an old design concept I came up with earlier this year, which was going to be used on this site in the portfolio section. Looking at it I think it has some potential so I may consider developing it further and actually cracking on with the portfolio side of this site. I’m not totally sure which direction I want to take it. As I said before, I have to many ideas and want to do them all. It’s hard to choose. Anyhow, have a butchers.
