IDAT101: Artefact project

14th March 2007

After doing plenty of hunting around and speaking with Mike about my project a couple of times I decided that for my artefact project I was going to recreate a typeface that was produced for the IDAT I-BEAM project. I-BEAM is a national project to see what happens when you ask different creative groups to design their own typeface. Over the past three years IBeam has published 3 editions of fonts by Architects, Dancers and Dyslexics.

I have decided to choose one of the fonts that was produced for the dyslexic edition. Currently I feel that the Alphaform typeface is the most interesting due to how the letters are formed and the overall style of the typeface. I’m planning on trying to research a little further into the I-BEAM project as well as it’s designers and then produce a few sketches of possible typefaces and from there I will take it to the computer and try and bust out a digital version.
